Open Expert on your Mac and scan its code with your iPhone. Your phone remembers the connection.
Give your agent the task
Connect Codex, Claude Code or Cursor through MCP. Grant control and let it click, type and scroll in your Mac apps.
Take the controls
Watch the desktop on your iPhone. Tap Take control to pause agent input and use the mouse and keyboard yourself.
Reconnect when you need to
Open Expert to return to your paired Mac. For another Wi-Fi network or mobile data, connect Tailscale on both devices first.

Your apps, files and signed-in sessions stay on your Mac. Your agent works on the desktop you know.

Keep working in Codex, Claude Code or Cursor. Expert’s MCP bridge gives that agent access to your Mac.

Mouse and keyboard control
Click, scroll and type from your phone. Use Expert as a remote desktop even when no agent is running.
A handover you control
Only you can grant agent control. Taking over pauses its input, and each grant lasts up to two minutes.
Pair once, come back later
Your iPhone saves the pairing in Keychain. Disconnecting keeps it, so reopening Expert can reconnect.

Expert is in early access. You’ll need macOS 14 or later and an iPhone with iOS 18 or later. Build the apps from source, or use a TestFlight invitation for the iPhone app.

Open the Mac companion
Allow Screen Recording, Accessibility and Input Monitoring. Keep your Mac awake, signed in and running Expert.

Scan the pairing code
Open Expert on your iPhone and scan the code on your Mac. Use trusted Wi-Fi, or set up Tailscale before pairing for remote access.

Add Expert MCP to your agent and a TypeSafe key to the Mac companion. Grant control when you’re ready for it to act.

Across different networks
Connect Tailscale on both devices and pair using your Mac’s Tailscale address. Test over mobile data before you leave; your Mac must stay awake and online.

What does Expert do?
Expert connects your coding agent to your Mac and gives you an iPhone remote for the same desktop. Your agent can work in Mac apps while you watch, and you can take control whenever you need to.
Which coding agents can I use?
Codex, Claude Code and Cursor can connect through Expert’s MCP bridge. The coding agent supplies the task and text; Jev uses your Mac’s screen text and Accessibility information to choose desktop actions.
Does it work away from home?
With Tailscale connected on both devices, yes. Set the Mac companion’s address to its Tailscale IP on port 8767, save, and scan the updated pairing code. Keep your Mac awake, signed in and running Expert. Check the live desktop with iPhone Wi-Fi turned off before relying on remote access.
Do I have to scan the code every time?
No. Pairing is saved in your iPhone’s Keychain. Reopening the app reconnects, and Disconnect keeps the saved Mac. Forget Mac removes it from that phone; Reset pairing on the Mac revokes the old token.
Can I use it without an AI agent?
Yes. The iPhone remote works without a Jev key. You can view the desktop, switch displays, click, scroll and type yourself.
Does my coding subscription cover Jev?
No. Agent control needs a separate TypeSafe API key, saved in your Mac’s Keychain. Your Codex, Claude Code or Cursor subscription stays in its own app.
What happens when I take control?
Expert pauses agent input and gives you the controls. The agent can only resume after you grant control again. Grants last up to two minutes, and the Mac starts in human control after a restart.
What leaves my Mac?
Desktop images travel to your paired iPhone. For agent tasks, Expert sends the goal, supplied text, and visible OCR and Accessibility labels to TypeSafe. Jev receives text rather than screenshots.
Can I download it from the App Store?
Expert is in early access. There is no public App Store release yet. Build from source, or use an iPhone TestFlight invitation if you have one. The setup guide is linked below.
